My First Laptop

It's a new year, and I just had my first laptop. My laptop took years to realize, one of the main factors for the delay is the budget. Second, is the laptop model. I ran and create all sorts of programs, so I need a laptop with a dual core processor, has 64 bit support, ample memory, plenty of hard drive and compact design. The laptop that I have in mind must meet my heavy computing needs at the same time affordable.

Last January 2, I finally decided to buy a Compaq Presario CQ40-416 model with the following specs:

- AMD Turion X2, 2.2 GHz processor
- 1 GB DDR2 800 MHz memory
- 320 GB SATA hard drive
- 14" screen, with ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics card

Bought it from Octagon Computers at SM City for 25,995.00 PHP. I immediately purchased a keyboard and mouse since I don't want to use the laptop keypads and mousepad. I Installed Windows 7 on it and my own software developments tools, so far I'm very much satisfied with it. Boots up in less than 30 seconds and responds to actions very well. With proper care, I'm expecting that this laptop will last for more than 10 years since it is designed to be future proof, with a 64 bit and 8 GB memory support.

I'm an avid user of Mozilla Firefox, but recently with lots of website to visit and an online project to finish, I found out that Firefox is a memory hogger. In fact, after opening several tabs of Entrecard sites, the lag becomes intolerable. In situations like this, what I need is a lightweight browser that is still web standard compliant.

Searching for it, I found K-Meleon. I've tested and used it and it very well fits what I'm looking for. I guess, you might be needing a thing like this also, so here's the link to download it.
